Toys in early 1900s

The first 1900s were quite different from today. Toys, though they've developed in lots of ways, remained as the delight of kids everywhere. Explore a brief history of toys, as charted through the History website.

Theodore Roosevelt's Presidency marks the start of the "Stuffed Animal." Around 1902, toy bears were named "Teddy" following the president's nickname. The Stuffed Animal grew to become known worldwide, and it is still known and loved today. It had been merely a couple of years later once the Teddies were mass created.

Crayola crayons were created the very first time ever in 1903 by Edwin Binney and C. Harold Cruz.

In 1913, a product known as the Erector Set was invented. It had been a steel, motorized toy that youngsters can use to construct types of nearly anything. Its creator would be a.D. Gilbert, a physician.

Charles Pajeau produced an identical wooden set known as Mess Toys around 1914. Mess Toys is made for more youthful children.

Raggedy Ann dolls first came in this area after newspaper cartoonist Johnny Gruelle produced the toy he earned for his daughter. Which was in 1915.

The year after, an architect's boy named John Lloyd Wright, invented Lincoln subsequently Logs, that have been interlocked to create structures.

Polystyrene was invented in 1927, which is the type of plastic which was employed for making toys in the past.

2 yrs after Donald Duck was produced (that was in 1928), stuffed Donald Duck dolls were created by Charlotte now Clark. It was the beginning of Disney merchandise.

Scrabble was created from a game title known as Criss Mix, introduced by Alfred M. Butts in 1931.
